PPSSPP - Play PlayStation Portable Games on Your Computer
PPSSPP is an emulator for Sony’s PlayStation Portable handheld console. It is open-source and runs on a wide variety of operating systems and hardware, with official support for Microsoft Windows, Android, Blackberry 10, Linux, and macOS (both x86 and ARM architectures are supported).
Unlike other PSP emulators, PPSSPP has an intuitive interface that’s easy to navigate. The main menu consists of three tabs: Recent, Games, and Homebrew & Demos. The interface also features a settings panel, which offers options to adjust various general settings. For example, you can set the default game file type to ISO or CSO, select a custom save folder location, and enable cheats. Other settings include the ability to create and save screen shots in PNG format, change the game’s language, and access developer tools. PPSSPP also offers graphical enhancements such as frame rate boosts, image scaling, antialiasing, and linear and pixel shader filtering.
While most PPSSPP games are centered around fighting or socializing, some offer more unique gameplay. For instance, Persona 3 is a highly-regarded RPG that lets you customize your character and explore an expansive world. Alternatively, you can play Lumines, a rhythm game that blends army building with musical prowess.
